If you’ve purchased a Delphi FG1052, FG1053, or FG1588, you’ll notice that it comes with an updated wiring kit. This wiring kit is to relocate the power and ground wires on the cover. The OE had the power and ground next to each other, which could cause an overheating issue. Delphi has relocated the power and ground to dissipate the heat. You’ll notice on the attached connector that the orange wires are the power and ground, and they are separated.

Make sure to follow the instructions for all your wiring needs--they're included in the box or you can click to download them below.

What's wrong with my fuel gauge? Diagnosing a bad fuel sending unit

The most common problem that causes the fuel gauge to read incorrectly is a bad fuel sending unit. The fuel sending unit is used to measure the amount of fuel in the fuel tank and communicate the fuel level to the fuel gauge on the vehicle dashboard. This ensures that the driver is aware of the fuel level at all times, as well as warn when the vehicle is low on fuel, and when to visit a gas station before the tank is completely empty. If something happens to the fuel sending unit, the fuel gauge is the first to show it, so let’s take a look at how the two work together.
