Precision Under Pressure: NOx Sensors

News Article Sensors Vehicle Electronics & Engine Management

When it comes to emissions control, precision isn’t optional - it’s essential. That’s why Delphi put its NOx sensor to the test against the OE and three leading players. From airtight sealing to real-world driving accuracy, the results reveal a clear leader in sensor technology. Here's how Delphi performed under pressure, and why it sets the benchmark for reliability, durability, and performance.

Probe Leakage

Delphi’s probe scored an exceptional 0.02 ml, the lowest leakage of all parts tested. This result is not only 30 times tighter than the standard limit, but also significantly better than the three KDC brands, whose leakage values ranged from 0.3 ml to 0.5 ml.

This airtight seal ensures superior reliability, durability, and performance - making Delphi the clear leader in probe technology.

Sensor Accuracy

Sensor accuracy is critical for effective emissions control and system performance. Delphi’s sensors closely matched OE data across all test stages:

  • Exact match at 0 ppm (20%)
  • Within 1.5 points at 300 ppm (9.5%)
  • Slightly higher at elevated ranges, but consistent and predictable
In contrast, KDC 2 failed at 300 ppm, revealing a major performance gap. Delphi’s precision delivers reliable readings and system stability—ideal for high-performance applications.

High Temperature Leakage

Extreme conditions demand exceptional engineering. In Delphi’s 420 °C ±10 °C high-temperature leakage test, the sensor showed outstanding stability:

  • O₂ readings remained consistent throughout
  • The seal held firm, ensuring reliable data under thermal stress
  • Other brand sensors fluctuated, compromising accuracy

Delphi’s resilience and precision make it the most dependable choice for high-heat environments.

Real World Driving

Real-world driving is the ultimate test of sensor reliability. Our evaluation covered a range of loads, speeds, and temperatures, simulating both stop-and-go urban traffic and steady highway cruising.

The results speak for themselves:

Delphi’s NOx sensor tracked closest to OE data across all conditions. It delivered stable, consistent readings in both urban and highway environments. Other brands sensors showed greater deviation, especially under dynamic urban loads.

Delphi’s performance confirms its responsiveness, durability, and precision - engineered for real-world reliability.

The takeaway? With Delphi NOx sensors, you get:

  • Best-in-class sealing, proven in the lab
  • OE-level accuracy, no matter the NOx load
  • Heat stability, the kind that survives years, not just months

We engineer for the future. We innovate to build sensors that are accurate when heat, pressure, and time push them to the very edge.

When you choose Delphi, you choose reliability.
