Here we’re taking a look at investigating an emissions system fault code. If you get a warning light in a car about the emissions system, here’s what to do.
Watch as Laura our Delphi expert explains how to investigate this type of fault on a Citroen Cactus (code P20F6) with the aid of a DS480 diagnostic tool. She walks you through:
- Checking for fault codes on your diagnostic tool
- Removing and replacing the injector
- Reconnecting the pipework and running a pump
- Programming the vehicle’s ECU
What are the common causes of Adblue emission system faults?
Common causes of these faults include failed pumps, blocked lines and/or injectors, poor quality Adblue or the wrong fluid entirely. In the example above, the problem is being caused by an Adblue injector that’s stuck open.
If I have a faulty injector, do I always need to replace it with a new one?
Not necessarily. You could also consider remanufacture or repair, depending on the extent of the fault. These can save cost, and also be more environmentally friendly options.
